PSYCHOTHERAPY

How does face-to-face attention differ from the virtual session?

Each of these approaches have their advantages to be applied in different situations: matters of distance, health, time, work, language, may lead to a preference for the virtual session. It is also possible to combine written therapy, Skype sessions and sessions in the consulting room.

What should I write about?

There is no preconceived idea of how one should write:  some people write about every day facts, others write personal reflections, others write more poetically with literary productions. Either way is valid to relate what comes out on paper, or on the screen, to one’s inner world.

There is another line of written therapy, for example, Olivares’ method, which consists of letting out anything that comes to mind, especially negative emotions, in order to overcome trauma. Whatever written is then thrown into the trash literally and symbolically, so that these ideas do not come back into one’s system.

Positive ideas help to build one-self up. The idea is to develop the healthy nucleus every person has, appealing from there to heal wounds and unfold cornered aspects of the self.
